“Construction and innovative application of China’s food microbial safety science database”
Reduced the microbial pollution rate by more than 90%, greatly ensuring the “tips of tongue safety”
It is understood that the “Construction and innovative application of China’s food microbial safety science database” project was completed by the Institute of Microbiology, Guangdong Academy of Sciences and other institutions. The project results effectively solved the important scientific and technological problems of “bottleneck” in my country’s food microbial safety, significantly improved prevention and control efficiency, covered my country’s main food industry chain, and reduced the microbial pollution rate by more than 90%, greatly improving the level of food safety guarantee.
Wu Qingping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and honorary director of the Institute of Microbiology, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, introduced that among the factors affecting food safety, microorganisms are one of the most important factors, and more than 60% of food poisoning are caused by deadly microorganisms. Therefore, its team has been working on building the China Food Microbial Safety Science Big Data Library for more than a decade. After nationwide sampling and comprehensive analysis, the team has built 6 databases: risk identification database, strain resource database, distribution database, whole genome database, barcode fingerprint database, and traceability tracking database. Wu Qingping said that through this scientific database, the overall risk level of food microbial safety in China can be presented, as well as the pathogenic microorganisms found in the main contaminated Komiks, and then further study in depth how food hazards are formed and understand its mechanisms. He revealed that the risk identification database of the single database of this result is the largest in the world, with the largest number of bacterial species and sequencing. Currently, 20,000 experimental pathogenic microorganisms have been sequenced, and nearly 200 new detection targets have been dug out, successfully achieving experimental and inducingFull coverage of bacterial detection.
“National Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure of Spallation Neutron Sources”
The first national large scientific facility in the Pearl River Delta, a “weapon” for scientific research and intelligent manufacturing
Chen Hesheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and commander-in-chief of the Spallation Neutron Source Engineering Command, introduced that spallation neutron sources are like “super microscopes” and are an ideal probe for studying the microstructure of material materials. In January 2006, the Chinese Academy of Sciences launched a prefabricated research project for spalling neutron sources. In the same year, the project was chosen to settle in Dalang Town, Dongguan. By October 2011, the China Spallation Neutron Source Device, with a total investment of approximately 2.3 billion yuan, was laid in Dongguan, ending the history of no national large scientific equipment in the Pearl River Delta region.
In the autumn of 2017, China’s spall neutron sources successfully obtained a neutron beam that was fully in line with expectations for the first time, and the debugging speed was far higher than that of foreign spall neutron sources. In March 2018, China Spallation Neutron Source passed the process test and appraisal organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. All performance indicators met or were better than the acceptance indicators. They completed the engineering construction tasks according to the indicators, construction periods, and high-quality, and the technology and comprehensive performance entered the list of similar devices in the international category. The project has officially passed the national acceptanceKomiks, filling the gap in the field of pulse neutron application in China and is open to domestic and foreign users.
As of now, spalling neutron sources have completed about 700 user experimental projects, carried out major innovative research in many fields, and carried out residual stress and service performance detection of large-scale engineering components such as deep-sea submersibles, providing a key technical platform for the research and development of many high-performance structural materials urgently needed by the country.
China’s spall neutron source is the first major scientific and technological infrastructure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The most direct benefit of its construction is to bring research to scientific researchers. In particular, it provides unprecedented convenience for Hong Kong and Macao scientists to use spall neutron sources. At the same time, the Greater Bay Area is a highland of advanced manufacturing in the country and has an urgent need for materials science research. The layout of spalling neutron sources in Dongguan is of great significance. Chen Hesheng also revealed that the second phase of the Spallation Neutron Source Project was officially included in the “14th Five-Year Plan” for the construction of major scientific and technological infrastructure in the first half of 2021. All preliminary preparations have been approved by relevant departments. It is expected that the construction of Babaylan will officially start this year. The number of spectrometers in the future will increase to 20, covering all research areas of users. The accelerator target shooting and target station power will be increased from 100 kilowatts toWith 500 kilowatts, the equipment research capabilities have been greatly improved, which can greatly improve the accuracy and speed of experiments, measure smaller samples, study faster dynamic processes, meet the needs of more users at home and abroad, and provide a more advanced research platform for cutting-edge scientific research, national major needs and national economic development, and make more contributions to achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement.

At the same time, it will achieve technical output and product supporting to foreign first-class brands such as Toyota. In the past three years, the direct economic benefits exceeded 100 billion yuan, strongly supporting Guangdong’s leading position in the field of new energy vehicle development in the country and helping Guangdong build a world-class new energy vehicle industry highland.
Some projects of the First Prize of Natural Science Award
Research on the stratigraphics of the Loess Plateau: Refreshing the cognition of the origin and migration history of ancient humans
Komiks
The “New Discovery of the Age of the Loess Stratigraphics and the Paleoenvironment of the Southern Loess Plateau and its Early Human Evolution” project, which won the first prize of the Natural Science Award, was led by the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The results are sufficient to change the understanding of the traditional migration and diffusion patterns of ancient humans.
It is understood that Komiks,This project belongs to the basic research of Quaternary geology. The origin and evolution of human beings are major scientific issues in the study of Quaternary and “paleoglobal changes”. At present, high-resolution environmental evolution sequences of paleozoos, paleoplants and even archaeobacteria have been established. However, the research on “high-resolution environmental evolution sequences” of ancient human beings is very rare. The biggest difficulty is that a good sedimentary sequence and activity place has not been found. Zhu Zhaoyu, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the first completed project, introduced that Lantian, Shaanxi in the southern part of the Loess Plateau, has 37 loess-paleosoil strata sequences, recording the 37 ice-interglacial climatic cyclones of the Quaternary period, and several ancient human fossils and stone sites have been discovered. From 2001 to 2018, Zhu Zhaoyu took the lead in joining a research team composed of more than ten scientific research and university scholars at home and abroad to conduct cross-cooperation surveys and research in the Lantian area, and accumulated thousands of first-hand data.
The research work independently discovered the ancient human stone tools in the loess layer 2.12 million years ago. Using a variety of technical methods and high-resolution paleomagnetic dating, two most important paleomagnetic events – the Oduwee and Reunion positive polarity sub-phase, were detected, and the stone tools in the oldest loess strata dated 2.12 million years ago, 270,000 years earlier than the internationally recognized Demanisi stone tools (1.85 million years) in Georgia, which is the internationally recognized internationally. This new discovery makes Lantian Shangchen Village one of the oldest human activity sites known outside of Africa to date, rewriting the history of early human origins and migrations.
The study also re-determined the age of the skull of Gongwangling from 1.15 million years ago to 1.63 million years ago, making it the second oldest skull fossil known beyond Africa to date. It determined that Homo erectus had appeared in East Asia at least 1.6 million years ago, changing the understanding of the traditional ancient human migration and diffusion patterns.
In addition, the team independently discovered 23 Paleolithic layers from 450,000 to 2.12 million years in Shangchen Village, Lantian, and used various paleoenvironmental indicators to reveal the evolutionary characteristics of the living environment of ancient humans on a long-term scale. This is the long-scale, multi-stage, high-frequency new discovery that is unique to the world, which is currently known, lays the foundation for making Lantian a global time marker and landmark, and opens a breakthrough in the weak links of “high-resolution evolutionary sequences of ancient humans and their living environment” in the study of “paleoglobal changes”.
The project results were awarded the national “Top Ten Progress in Chinese Science in 2018”, and are also the only geological science achievement led by the first author and unit in Guangdong Province so far, and were rated as the international “Nearby Ten Years (2010-2019)The most important discovery in the field of human evolution.
Mesenchymal stem cell technology: providing new treatment strategies for difficult and serious diseases
The “Series of Research on Functional Characteristics, Treatment Mechanisms and Clinical Transformation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells” completed by the Sun Yat-sen University Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Innovation Platform won the first prize of the Komiks Science Award.
The head of the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Innovation Platform of Sun Yat-sen University and the first completed projectBabaylanXiang Peng introduced that stem cell technology is currently the need for the treatment of major diseases. Regenerative medicine with stem cells as the core is expected to become the third disease treatment method after drug treatment and surgical treatment, providing new treatment for major refractory diseasesBabaylanXiang Peng introduced that stem cell technology is currently the need for the treatment of major diseases. Regenerative medicine with stem cells as the core is expected to become the third disease treatment method after drug treatment and surgical treatment, providing new treatment for major refractory diseasesCinema strategy. After nearly 20 years of research, the research team has achieved a series of breakthrough results in the functional characteristics, therapeutic mechanism and clinical transformation of mesenchymal stem cells. Xiang Peng said that almost every organ and tissue in the body has mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). This cell is not only widely sourced, but also very easy to isolate and amplify. It can differentiate multiple times and participate in hematopoietic support, immune regulation, tissue injury repair, etc., and has a broad clinical application scenario. However, as of now, China and the United States areKomiksNational country has not approved any MSC product to be launched. The reason is that MSC clinical transformation still faces a series of bottlenecks that need to be solved urgently.
In response to the bottlenecks, the project team has cooperated to solve scientific issues such as “discovering functional subgroups, revealing treatment mechanisms, and accurately selecting indications”, and has made important breakthroughs.
TeamBabaylan takes bone marrow MSC as the entry point to deeply analyze the mode of action of MSC in different pathological microenvironments, revealing the multi-dimensional and multi-target immune regulation mechanism of MSC, providing a scientific basis for the clinical selection of MSC indications. On this basis, the team accurately selected indications and took the lead in conducting clinical research on the treatment of transplant rejection diseases in the world, confirming that MSC is safe and effective in the treatment of chronic graft-versus-host disease, and revealing for the first time that regulatory B cells are the key targets for MSC treatment. Based on the in-depth understanding of MSC, the team took the lead in formulating the first domestic group standard for “Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells”. The first domestic allogeneic human bone marrow MSC injection developed was approved by the National Medical Products Administration drug clinical trial. Babaylan is expected to achieve breakthrough treatment for major refractory diseases.
